Job Information: Preschool Program Director / Volunteer Coordinator

Job Summary: The Preschool Program Director is to: 
• Supervise and counsel all Preschool teaching staff;
• Support and assure the development and maintenance of age-appropriate curriculum, positive relationships and accurate assessment for all preschool children; 
• Coordinate summer TIBBIT program
• Manage volunteer program
• Provide and maintain channels of communication, between staff and Board of Directors, Executive Director and Parents
• Be aware of and keep compliance with State Licensing, NAEYC Accreditation, Department of Health and United Way
• Be aware of and implement all policies in the Employee Handbook, Staff Manual and Parent Handbook
• Serve as ex-officio member of WCCC Board of Directors, attend all meetings, represent staff interest and concern
• Assume duties of Executive Director and Office personnel in their absence
• Sign WCCC checks when necessary
• Perform other related duties as requested by the Executive Director
• Maintain data base accuracy
• Interview, hire and provide orientation for all teaching staff and volunteers
• Maintain personnel records, assure compliance with training requirements, and follow discipline procedures
• Coordinate staff schedules with appropriate adult-child ratios in mind, arrange substitutes when necessary
• Provide resources to support staff training and professional growth
• Daily interaction with teachers, provide classroom support when necessary
• Plan and implement procedures for keeping accurate classroom records – attendance, food program, assessments, conferences and portfolios
• Review and document lesson plans, offer recommendations
• Plan and facilitate monthly classroom team meetings
• Facilitate purchases of classroom materials, supplies, equipment
• Schedule use of shared space and equipment
• Delegate responsibilities to full-time and part-time teachers and volunteers
• Maintain a professional library with resources for teachers and parents
• Respond to initial parent contact, lead Center tours, provide necessary information for enrollment, provide document review for new families, build and maintain supportive relationships with families
• Respond to initial volunteer contact, provide necessary information and orientation
• Attend and participate in professional conferences, lectures, educational events

• Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a classroom teacher
• Past experience in supervising others preferred
• Ability to walk or stand in excess of 75% of the time. 
• Ability to sit on the floor and to lift 40 pounds
• Computer skills
