Shelly Williams, Director of Strategic Marketing and Engagement
Shelly Williams is the Director of Strategic Marketing and Engagement for LUME Institute, a non-profit organization that is improving society by transforming the way families, educators, and communities inspire young children to learn, grow, and thrive. She received her B.A. in Anthropology (with an understudy in Premed) from the University of Notre Dame in 2007. During her tenure at Notre Dame she devoted countless hours to the youth of South Bend as a Robinson Community and Learning Center tutor and youth director. Inspired by her experience and driven by her mission to support the development of children, Shelly advanced the impact of a myriad of non-profit programs, each helping youth ages k-12 excel in a variety of endeavors. Her passion for helping communities improve youth outcomes guided her to the Nine Network of Public Media, where she served PBS stations and local communities across America as the Initiative Director of American Graduate. As a result of her guidance public media successfully worked with 1,700 cross sector partners, produced more than 21,000 hours of programming, established a sustainable initiative by raising 17+ million dollars to support the initiative, and more. As a result of Shelly’s efforts, the Nine Network received multiple honors and awards including 5 Regional Emmys, What’s Right With the Region Award from Focus St. Louis, and several Missouri State Teacher Association Awards among others.
