Our Work
The LUME Approach
The LUME Approach Framework centers on “being with” — a
mindset of attuned, reflective engagement with self, colleagues, children and families. Grounded in early childhood development science, trauma-attuned care, psychodynamic theory and reflective practice, the framework fosters resilience, empathy and authentic
relationships across a school’s ecosystem.
Who We Support
At LUME, we partner with organizations all over the St. Louis area. We work not only with early childhood centers but PAT educators, parent groups, and more. LUME also partners with out-of-state organizations including the Chicago YWCA, offering both in-person and virtual learning.
Theory of Change
Developed and refined with support from Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child, we believe when educators understand themselves and children more deeply and learn the foundations of relationship-building, they grow as depicted above.
Data Driven Work
Every piece of data we collect represents a deep and complex human being on a journey of self-discovery and transformation. As a learning organization that practices what we teach, we are deeply intentional about our program evaluation process, ensuring all data serve the purpose of both reflection and research.
